Unlock your potential at city's largest education recruitment event

Find jobs, apprenticeships and training at the Teach Portsmouth Jobs and Opportunities Fair

The city's largest education recruitment fair returns to Portsmouth Guildhall on Wednesday 26 February from 10am - 2pm.

The Teach Portsmouth Jobs and Opportunities Fair invites up to 24 exhibitors to promote vacancies, training and apprenticeships, supporting people who want to work in education.

Last year, over 300 people attended the event to meet schools, academies, colleges and council services alongside local training providers.

A spokesperson for Portsmouth City Council said

"Teach Portsmouth have long championed our communities ability to step up and support children and young people in education.

"This event brings together the largest collection of education employers and services in the city under one roof, supporting those into work or training.

"I would encourage anyone interested in becoming a teaching assistant, teacher or volunteer to attend and discover more."

The recruitment event brings together employers and training providers to showcase the diverse pathways into education roles.

Nicola Sanders, attended a Teach Portsmouth event after working in education for over 30 years. Nicola worked as a religious studies teacher. After changes in her personal life, she wanted to move into a support role that aligned with her skills.

After connecting with an exhibitor, she found a permanent position as an alternative provisions manager at Priory School.

Nicola shares her experience after attending a Teach Portsmouth event

"I really enjoy forming strong relationships with young people to encourage them in school. During a Teach Portsmouth event, I spoke to one academy trust and ended up working in one of their schools. I then moved to another and have secured a permanent role.

"If I had to give one piece of advice, I would say: Go for it! There are plenty of exhibitors who have a wealth of information to share with you. They all want you to be successful."

For those who need to build confidence before applying for a job in a school, people can sign up to a taster session. The scheme allows attendees to visit a participating school or college, meet staff and learn more about their employment opportunities.

Attendees can also visit the 'opportunities room' throughout the day. The room offers a range of presentations from local experts providing advice on writing job applications, interview techniques, how to become a teaching assistant and teacher training routes. Those visiting the event can drop-in throughout the day between 10am - 2pm.
