What inspired you to attend a Teach Portsmouth event? When did you go?
I had been considering a career shift from the property sector to education for several years but felt unsure about where to begin. After some online research, I discovered the Teach Portsmouth Jobs and Opportunities Fair in February 2024 which I attended. I also subscribed to the Teach Portsmouth newsletter for more information.
In what ways did the Community Learning Service support you during the Teach Portsmouth event?
I realised having attended the Teach Portsmouth jobs fair in 2024 that the Community Learning Service were on my doorstep. They made me aware of what learning opportunities they offered. From my initial enquiries during the fair to the collection of my qualification certificates – they have been brilliant!
What training have you completed with the Community Learning Service? Are you planning to take on further training with them?
I completed the 'support work in schools and colleges' and 'principle of safeguarding in a learning environment'. I am looking for an administrative role within a school/college setting. If there were any further qualifications that would benefit my job role at the Community Learning Service, I would be looking to add these to my cv.
How has the Community Learning Service influenced your plans after completing your training course?
The Community Learning Service has continued to support me even after my training courses were completed. Their guidance and encouragement, especially on the day of my interview with the City of Portsmouth College, have been invaluable. My tutor, Jo, even took the time to wish me good luck, which really set them apart and boosted my confidence.
